In 2014, Festool absorbed sister company Protool. For more information on this merger, see the Tool Cobber news post by clicking here.
Festool was founded in 1925 by Albert Fezer and Gottlieb Stoll, and was known for decades simply as Festo. Initially manufacturing woodworking tools and machinery, Festo as a company diversified into the automation industry, and in 2000 the power tool division became a separate entity – Festool.
Festool today (and always) specialises in high-end power tools for woodworking. Festool, together with sister brand Protool, is now part of the strong coalition of brands under parent company TTS Tooltechnic Systems Pty Ltd.
For 30 years, Festool tools have been distributed through specialised partner dealers throughout Australia and have been extremely well received by professional trades people and demanding DIY users.
Milestones of the company included the production of the first portable chainsaw in 1929, and the first orbital sander in 1951.
All Festool tools are manufactured in Wendlingen, Germany.
Festool tools are designed for professional use.
Festool tools have a 12 month repair warranty (or 3 years with online registration).
