Metabo (Metabowerke GmBH) was founded in 1924 under the name Schnizler GmBH, based both now and then in Nürtingen, Germany. The name Metabo came about in 1932 from the abbreviated name of one of the first small hand held tools they ever manufactured – the Metallbohrdreher, a metal-boring tool.
Nowadays, Metabo tools are manufactured for almost every conceivable application – from wood and metal work right through to garden tools, and are present in more than 100 countries. They hold over 500 patents, have over 2,000 employees, and are one of the biggest professional power tool manufacturers in the world.
