Porter Cable

Overview Of Porter Cable Power Tools

The Porter Cable tool company was founded in 1906 by R.E. Porter, G.G. Porter, and F.E. Cable, and started as a tool shop operated out of the trio’s garage in Syracuse, New York. In 1914, the company began to focus on power tools, and in 1926 they produced the world’s first portable electric belt sander. Other milestones includes the invention of the first helical-drive circular saw in 1929, and the first random orbital sander in 1989.

The company has changed hands many times since, and is now partnered with sister company Delta Machinery and owned by Black and Decker.

The Porter Cable tool range is the result of a dedicated team of researchers and engineers listening to what tool users have to say. This team is constantly looking for ways to improve their existing tools and dream up new ones.
